About The Festival

Welcome to The California Institute of Music, a two-week chamber music festival based at the Weikersheim  Castle, Germany, that boasts an internationally acclaimed faculty of artists and teachers. This course is presented in cooperation with Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland.

Distinguishing itself from other well-known festivals, CIM Germany puts its participants in the artistic spotlight. If well prepared and eager to play, a festival participant can perform dozens of times during these two weeks, allowing for the experience of a lifetime. Many of the festival’s former participants, who now lead successful artistic and musical careers, cite the festival as a the program that gave them theboost they needed to enter the professional realm. Thefestivalcurriculum is designed for advanced violin, viola, cello  and piano students. All participants will have access to world-renowned guest artists and teachers, and will receive private lessons, master classes, chamber ensemble coaching and participate in the Festival Chamber Orchestra. Students applying individually (pre-existing groups may apply as an ensemble) will be placed in chamber groups by the auditioning faculty on the basis of student repertoire preference and their audition tapes. Numerous public performances are scheduled throughout the course. The concerts are popular and well attended. All students will have a chance to perform the chamber and solo literature that they have prepared during the course.

Please see our Program and Faculty pages for more information.

The faculty and staff here at CIM couldn’t be happier to officialy open the 2012 CIM at Weikersheim Castle for registration. We look forward to a year of productive work and preparation, but most of all  we are looking forward to our festival’s new home in Weikersheim Castle, Germany.
